GOD AND HOMOSEXUALITY

The issue of homosexual rights in Fort Worth has public attention as never before. Homosexuals are seeking protection as a minority group while vast numbers oppose this classification.

Whatever the outcome at this time or in the future, we should keep four facts before us and never forget them. First, sodomy is unnatural. Both anatomy and conscience witness that it is a practice in conflict with the way we were created. Therefore, it must not be classified with race, color, sex, national origin, or even left-handedness.

Second, sodomy in immoral. Just as rape, child molestation, incest, drug abuse, pornography and adultery are immoral, so is the practice of homosexuality.

Third, sodomy is dangerous. Some 70 percent to 80 percent of AIDS patients in the United States are homosexuals. Only 3 percent of male patients contracted the disease through heterosexual contact. Apart from sodomy and IV drug use, this sexually transmitted disease would not be the problem that it is.

Fourth, and certainly the most important consideration, sodomy violates the will and plan of God for His creatures. He has clearly stated that homosexuality is sinful and that those who practice this vice cannot inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).

Whatever the powers that be choose to do about a homosexual ordinance, truth lovers should keep these facts and truths before them.
